Apr 6, 2015: Hill International Receives $50 Million CM/Build Contract from the City University of New York  Hill International (NYSE:HIL), the global leader in managing construction risk, announced today that it has received a contract from the City University Construction Fund (CUCF) on behalf of the City University of New York (CUNY) to provide on-call construction management/build services in connection with various university construction projects. The three-year contract has an estimated value to Hill of $50.0 million, which includes approximately $10.0 million of management services which will be provided by Hill and approximately $40.0 million of construction services which will be provided by subcontractors.

Jan 18, 2015: 171 Central Projects behind schedule by more than 8 yrs. Apart from the fact that none of the development project taken up in Manipur, India under Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) and North Eastern Council (NEC) have been able to complete in time, as many as 171 Centrally funded (infrastructure) projects have been behind schedule by more than 8 years in the State, thus raising alarm in the Ministry of Development of North East Region (DoNER) . The Central Government is now demanding monthly progress reports.

Dec 15, 2014: NV5 Awarded Over $1 Million for Colorado Projects.  NV5 Holdings, Inc. (the “Company” or “NV5”) (NASDAQ: NVEE), a provider of professional and technical engineering and consulting solutions, was recently awarded over $1 million for three program management contracts in Colorado: “NV5’s selection for these projects is a result of our strong professional qualifications in program management, and demonstrates our ability to continue to grow this service offering across the country,” commented Dickerson Wright, Chairman and CEO of NV5. “When a local community passes a bond to fund improvements to their schools, or a municipality improves their facilities, they view NV5 as the clear choice to execute their projects on time and under budget.”

Dec 11, 2014: SNC-Lavalin unit wins big Qatar Shell project.  Kentz, a group member of the leading engineering and construction group SNC-Lavalin, has won a four-year multi-million-dollar call-off contract, with a possible two-year extension, from Qatar Shell for its Pearl Gas-To-Liquids (GTL) onshore and offshore facilities in Qatar.

Nov 30, 2014: ASTAD delivers state-of-the-art facilityASTAD Project Management, joined Qatar Olympic Committee in launching the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena, formerly the Al Sadd Multipurpose Hall, one of the main venues that will host the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship in January 2015.

Nov 30, 2014: Hoffman to manage $25M expansion project in OshkoshBemis Co. Inc. has selected Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction to provide project management of its $25 million expansion project in Oshkosh. The 160,000-square-foot project involves renovating the two existing facilities on the Bemis Healthcare Packaging campus and constructing a 107,000-square-foot warehouse addition that will combine the buildings into one.

Nov 30, 2014: Shell wins ‘Project Management Company of the Year’ 2014. Shell has received the top global award of Project Management Company of the Year 2014 for the delivery of capital projects better and safer than other competitors.

Nov 29, 2014: Driver Group awarded $12.2mn Oman contractDriver Group, the global consultancy to the construction and engineering industries, has been awarded a OMR4.72m ($12.2m) project management contract by the Sultanate of Oman, Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Nov 24, 2014: Faithful+Gould wins contract to project manage mega mixed-use development in Qatar.  Integrated project and program management consultancy Faithful+Gould has been awarded a contract to provide project management services to the new 460,000m² Doha Oasis mixed-use development in Qatar for Halul Real Estate Investment Company.

Nov 20, 2014:  Project to tackle conflict minerals given grant to expand efforts.  A program to build responsible minerals supply chains in conflict areas will be expanded following a grant from Motorola Solutions Foundation. The philanthropic arm of the telecommunications firm Motorola Solutions has given the grant to non profit organization Resolve to expand the Solutions for Hope project tackling conflict minerals in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Colombia and other countries.

Nov 20, 2014: Bechtel-led Project Recognized for Engineering and Construction Excellence.  Bechtel announced today that the project team at the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant has received the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ 2014 Engineering and Construction Award, one of the organization’s most prestigious honors.

Oct 14, 2014: New Democrat Coalition Proposes Professional Background for Acquisition Program Managers. A group of lawmakers wants to require defense program managers to have the technical and academic background to lead a particular program in a move to “professionalize” the field, Defense News reported recently.

Oct 10, 2014: House Democratic Group: ‘Professionalize’ Pentagon’s Troubled Acquisition System. A group of moderate House Democrats wants to require military program managers be versed in the weapon programs they would be overseeing prior to taking office.

The federal government has said that to curb problems of projects abandonment in Nigeria, it is set to constitute a task force to monitor and evaluate the performance of projects in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
